IC2A wishes to encourage ongoing innovations and improvements in the design and development of assistive technologies. We also wish to highlight the need for the proper structural and clinical testing of any new prosthesis design so that the user can be assured that their prosthetic limb is safe and effective. Once a design concept has been proven and becomes available, it is then imperative that the roll-out plan includes appropriate user and prosthetist awareness raising and skills training.
A priority for research and development in the field of prosthetics and orthotics is the comfort and function of the prosthetic socket.
