DSC_4121

I am a consultant Prosthetist/Orthotist with a rich experience in the health, rehabilitation and education sectors. I have a strong interest in the development of services for people with a disability and a belief that their care should be provided by appropriately trained and skilled professionals.

Core value proposition includes: Project management from visioning to planning to delivery. Advocacy and advice in the field of prosthetics, orthotics and disability. Training, support and mentoring of prosthetist/orthotists, orthopaedic technologists and technicians to achieve improved quality of services and technologies. Bid writing for research and/or development in prosthetics and orthotics. Support of prosthetic and orthotic service audits and reviews.

Current role: I run my own business, Rehabskills Ltd, in order to follow my interest and talent in project management. Currently I am contracted on a part time basis as an author with the World Health Organization to develop Standards for Prosthetics and Orthotics. I also provide the Secretariat for the International Confederation of Amputee Associations. In addition I have worked with The University of Strathclyde, NHS Scotland, Scottish Government and NHS England.

I also am a care support worker offering rolling and occasional respite foster care at home to social services on weekends and some holidays.  We care for up to three children under 6 with additional needs (including physical disability or nursing care). I am trained in care of a tracheostomy (and resuscitation) and in peg/button feeding).
